| Twenty-seven years ago, founder and director Jim Taylor set up this organization with the intent to help women and minorities inject themselves into the film industry. Although they're out to help anyone in need, Taylor still maintains his original goal by offering intensive filmmaking courses and low-cost rental equipment. The Workshop is Chicago's equivalent of film boot camp with their six-and-a-half-hour-a-day, five-day-a-week courses which guide filmmakers through the process of making a two-to-three minute film -- from initial idea to screening. Classes are mostly held during the summer with the enrollment kept small. Course fees run about $3500 which includes the cost of film stock and equipment usage. However, for an annual membership fee (of about $35) you have access to their cost-efficient rental equipment. 1130 S. Wabash, Ste. 302 Chicago, IL 60610 PH: (312) 427-1245 FX: (312) 427-8818
