The Philip Lynch Theatre (PLT) season offers 5 major productions a year, directed by department faculty or professional directors from Chicago. Lewis University students, faculty and staff exclusively perform four productions during the school year. A fully staged musical is produced in the summer in which auditions are open to anyone from surrounding communities. In addition, there are student directed shows, a resident professional children's theatre company and an active alumni theatre company.
Actors from Chicago Shakespeare, Guthrie Theatre, The National Theatre for the Deaf, and Indianapolis Opera have performed on the Philip Lynch Theatre stage. The PLT strives to offer a balance of comedic, dramatic, classical, modern and musical productions to its students, the Lewis community and the surrounding communities it serves.
An assisted listening system is available to hearing impaired patrons. All proceeds from concession sales go to the Philip Lynch Theatre Scholarship Fund for theatre students. Tickets for non-musical productions are $10 for adults and $9 for students and senior citizens. Tickets for musicals are $12 for adults and $11 for students and senior citizens (a 10% discount is available to groups of 15 or more). Season (July-April) subscriptions are available for $44 for five shows.
