Formerly known simply as Salvador's, this is a long, cavernous room with a babbling fountain, gecko candleholders scaling the east wall and a steady soundtrack of ethnic music echoing throughout the bar and dining room. The reasonably priced menu here comes up well short of revolutionary, but it is filled with traditional Mexican favorites served in ample portions alongside the fries and coleslaw of the Yucatan, refried beans and Spanish rice.

Nothing here will make you think you're at Frontera Grill, but the burritos are the size of throw pillows and the margarita glasses are suitable for bathing, so it probably doesn't matter. Unfortunately, aside from its popularity for lunches, weeknight smatterings of office refugees and an SRO crowd on Cinco de Mayo, Barro is vastly underpopulated on many evenings, giving the room the ambiance of an unfinished basement.
