The service is amazing; owner Anne Nuqui Merritt and a handful of her cousins are on site daily to get to know the customers. The patrons are in their 20s, 30s and 40s, hailing from the surrounding Lincoln Square and Ravenswood hoods.

Try Anne's Special ($2.15) with espresso, coffee, chocolate and steamed half and half. The chocolate and butterscotch chip scones come from Little Miss Muffin are soft and delicious. Seasonal eggnog latte warms you up ($3.25), as does a great selection of tea by Numi ($1.25). The Ginseng Oolong is mighty tasty. Not just coffee and tea are served here; you can order a soup and sandwich combo for lunch, fresh fruit, a frozen ice cream bar from the cooler and a reasonably priced piece of artwork hanging prominently on The Perfect Cup's chai green walls.

Find a seat on the few cushy couches or chairs in the back area; otherwise, there are a dozen tables from which to choose.

Bonuses: Unusual for a small coffee house, there are more than sixteen outlets for gadget carriers. Clashing with the advent of modern technology, an old, wooden, hand-carved table/bench set hides in the back of the shop. Find her and treat her with care.
