A love for all things retro takes on new meaning at this Roscoe Village haven for comfort food. With yellow walls, orange tables and plenty of Gumby memorabilia on display, stopping here makes for a sunny trip-down-memory lane...in all respects except for the food, thankfully. (No offense mom, but you overcooked everything in the '70s).

The "Hangover Brunch Menu" brings in the masses on Saturday and Sunday mornings, which can lead to a 30-minute wait. You'll be rewarded for your patience with a whole lotta spice in the plentiful portions of chilaquiles, huevos locos and breakfast burritos, or a whole lotta sweetness in servings of coconut-crusted French toast. More healthful options, such as a low-carb egg scramble or granola and fruit, as well as your typical salad and sandwich combinations are also available; dishes run $7-$12.

Dinnertime means less of a crowd, but more campy eats, with pot pies, chicken and waffles, and mini burgers on the menu. Though inspired by diner food, the entrees are made with fresh, gourmet ingredients; Not Your Mom's Meatloaf is a mix of lean beef, portobello mushrooms and roasted pepper.

Wash down that meatloaf with a $1 Pabst Blue Ribbon, an all-the-time Kitsch'n special that truly feels retro. Specialty drinks like Purple Haze Ketel One cocktails magnify the psychedelic experience. Tang and Tab are also on tap, of course. With free wi-fi, a coffee bar and a summertime outdoor beer garden, you may want to stay trapped in the '70s forever. There's a second River North location.
