Bill Swerski's Super Fans would be extremely proud of the grub the Hoagie Hut offers its visitors. From burgers to dogs and, of course, hoagies, this Lincoln Park eatery masters fast food that fills you up during the day and tastes even better after a long night of bar-hopping.
While you won't find the healthiest food here, you will find quick service, reasonable prices and a fun atmosphere, especially on the weekends when bar-goers pour into the tiny hut for a late-night meal. There are a handful of tables inside, but the food is great to go, too. Choose from a Philly cheesesteak, Chicago style hoagie or 14 others for about six bucks each. There are also great specials every day, like two hot dogs, fries and a drink for six bucks, or Polish sausage, fries and a drink for about four bucks. There's also a wide selection of sides; the cheese fries are a must-buy. It's cash only here, but there's an ATM inside and free parking in the adjacent lot.
What used to be a lunch and weekend place is now open until 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and much later on Friday and Saturday nights (three and four a.m., respectively). It gets pretty busy those nights, but that's part of this place's appeal. After muscling your way through the crowd, there's nothing quite as satisfying as devouring cheese fries and a hot dog. And the outgoing staff members always enjoy striking up a conversation as they serve you the greasy chow.
