It's like someone bought the dance floor from Saturday Night Fever and stuck it on the wall of a small modern lounge. This small plates/wine bar is all pastel glows and warm woods rimmed in stainless steel with aquamarine walls. Snug in the coves of the back bar, green glass bottles refract the orange, blue and green light.
Fixture is serious about wine, except when naming their flights after former James Bond actors. While Sean Connery is everyone's favorite, the drinker in the mood for grape serendipity should opt for the George Lazenby-Timothy Dalton-Daniel Craig flight, $12, which gives you a tour of cellarmaster Michael Willison's smart nuanced palate. The flight includes dry Gruner Veltliner, plummy Cabernet Shiraz and an Austrian Zweigelt that has a bit of cherry and vanilla.
At most lounges, the food takes a backseat to revelry and spacey beats, but the kitchen crew at Fixture redeems your faith in small plates ($6-$14). The buffalo sliders with foie gras mayonnaise are more Buckingham Palace than White Castle. Pasilla-marinated lobster ceviche is a ballet of texture and flavor, with creamy hunks of spicy lobster, crunchy jicama salad and citrusy cactus pear emulsion.
