| Local jump jazz band, featuring Jimmy Sutton (bass, vocals), Joel Paterson (guitar, vocals), Jonathan Doyle (tenor & baritone sax), and Jim Barclay (drums, vocals), plays the traditional Tuesday swing slot at the Green Mill. The group made its debut on New Year's Eve, 1998, performed over 150 shows around the Midwest in 2001. Sutton's band's swing pedigree is substantial -- he was co-founder of the Mighty Blue Kings, and Jonathan Doyle also appears on a MBK album. It rings through... New City's James Porter wrote, "The Four Charms play 50's rockabilly with a hot jazz sense of swing. . . gritty yet elegant." Illinois Entertainer critic Kevin Toelle says, "The Four Charms play some of the best jump music of all varieties to be found in the Windy City." Their debut CD is called Flatland Boogie.
