Having taken their brand of indie-rock to the masses through demos, shows, and radio appearances whilst receiving nary a death threat, Sleep Out set off to to the studio during the Fall of 2005 to record their first album, "I Was Your Shroud". The result: eleven diverse compositions that toe the line between roadhouse donnybrooks and delicate lullabies. "I Was Your Shroud" was co-released by Brooklyn's March Records and Staten Island's Zero One Infinity in July of 2006.
In keeping with the incestuous nature of Chicago rock bands, the group features Quinn Goodwillie (mt.st.helens, kleenex girl wonder), Eddie Lo (May or May Not), Sam Grant & Nate Bartley (both of Driftless Pony Club) and Ben Geier (mt.st.helens). They've opened for some of the finest names in indie rock, including: Cordero, Miss Alex White & The Red Orchestra, Asobi Seksu, Russian Circles, City on Film, Jeff Hanson, Hanalei & Blue Cheer (sort of...long story).
Fans of My Morning Jacket, Galaxie 500, Red House Painters and other sweet/sad groups will find Sleep Out of particular interest. Look for them on the club calendars at their usual haunts: Schubas, Double Door, Beat Kitchen, Subterranean etc. They'll be playing out quite a bit to support "I Was Your Shroud" and get the word out about their other projects as well.
