Guitar-based melodic rock band, Plato's Republic, formed in 1996 when the rest of the rock world was either playing the three-chord bubblepunk of Green Day or the frenetic clamor of Korn/Tool. Celebrating their old-school influences (singer/songwriters, British hard rock, and Midwestern power pop) the foursome released two low-tech indie efforts: 1997's "The Exploding Cafe" EP and 1999's "Chow Mein Porn Star."
2003's "Superbubble" saw them shine with a cohesive lineup and their most authoritative delivery yet. Andy Eringis (vocals, guitars), Joe Smith (lead guitars), Joe Auskalnis (bass) and Dominick Palmisano (drums) have enjoyed a solid web presence, local band showcase airplay, and a long series of metropolitan and suburban performances, although often times there is a long wait for new studio releases....
Bryan Baker of GAJOOB.com wrote "...the band is SOLID, having buzz-sawed its chops in bands whose styles are spread widely across the entire fan-rock spectrum...(it's) as if they've taken all that experience and honed the entire history of what's so cool and exciting about making and listening to rock music." (January 2001) Michael Harris, former Editor-In-Chief of the Illinois Entertainer, wrote that Plato's Republic is "so earnest, they're hard not to like..." (October 2000)
