| Freelance studio engineer crewed on the Rolling Stones' Bridges to Babylon, spent 26 months touring with The Kinks' Ray Davies, and has recorded folks including the Dave Matthews Band, The Jayhawks and the Smoking Popes. More than two decades ago, Konopka made his first recording with his prog-rock group Pentwater in 1977. He and drummer Tom Haban originally opened Seagrape Studios in 1983 to record their own group, The Habans, but ended up recording other groups, from house mixes to heavy metal bands, for 10 years. With the advent of realistic home recordings, the partners decided to sell their studio.
