| This now-defunct record label played a major role in catapulting Chicago's rock scene onto the national radar in the early '90s. Founded in 1989 by Mike Po, it was the first home for bands such as the Smashing Pumpkins, Brainiac, Poster Children, Triple Fast Action and Catherine. Yes, the Smashing Pumpkins, from their days as regular headliners as the also now-defunct Avalon on Belmont, right off the El tracks. The label fell apart in 1995, but not before leaving a lasting imprint on the Chicago scene. For more information, visit their website: http://www.mikepo.com/label.html
