| Chicago-based opera and concert singer has appeared as a soloist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra 30 or so times, as well as with the Chicago Lyric Opera, Chicago Opera Theatre, and Music of the Baroque. A winner of the Metropolitan Opera and many other competitions, Mr. Link has earned the reputation of one of the finest American basses, both in opera and oratorio. Margaret Hillis, longtime CSO Chorus director, calls Link a "singer of extraordinary talent and versatility, equally impressive singing Bach, Schoenberg or any composer in between." He has sung Figaro, Leporello, Osmin, Sarastro, Ramfis, Daland, Colline, Mephistopheles and other major bass roles with companies such as the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Washington Opera, Dublin Grand Opera, Florida Grand Opera, New Israeli Opera, the opera companies of Portland, Omaha, St. Louis, Sarasota, Utah, Edmonton, and the opera festivals of Chautauqua, Wexford (Ireland), Wolf Trap, Glimmerglass and Spoleto. He has appeared with the orchestras of Philadelphia, Baltimore, St. Louis, Florida, Israel, Minneapolis, San Diego, Indianapolis, Charleston, Phoenix, San Antonio and Milwaukee, and as soloist with Sir Georg Solti, Edo de Waart, Erich Leinsdorf, Claudio Abbado, Eugene Ormandy, Ricardo Muti, Leonard Slatkin, Margaret Hillis and David Zinman.
