John Sharp

CSO cellist was -- during 1986-87 season -- one of the youngest players (27) ever chosen for a Chicago Symphony principal's chair.

A native of Waco, Texas, Sharp studied with Lev Aronson (who also taught Lynn Harrell and Ralph Kirshbaum), at Southern Methodist University, and at Juilliard School of Music (masters degree in music).

He frequently appears in the Chicago area with other orchestras, including the Northbrook Symphony and the Park Ridge Civic Orchestra. His wife Liba Shacht is a violinist with the Lyric Opera of Chicago.
