| Sax-driven 1950s-style rock'n'roll band performs dance tunes by folks like Big Jay McNeely, Sam Butera, King Curtis, Louis Prima, Brook Benton, Lloyd Price, and Elvis Presley. Bandleader Jesse Scinto, known for his bar walk, has performed with a number of Chicago's blues greats, including a year-long stint with Sam Lay. He played at Hillary Clinton's 50th birthday party, and appears on Delmark Records. The group, which formed in the summer of 1997, has performed at a variety of city and suburban clubs, appeared live on WBEZ and WCBR and WMAQ. New City says, "Jesse Scinto & the Dignitaries practically hit the nail on the head, a full-on backbeat homage to all the horn blowers of the era who'd wind up each show flat on their backs, working like slaves, sweating through their baggy suits, pointing their horns straight up at the ceiling." So they're not exactly swing, but they are an energetic dance band.
