Hot Stove Jimmy

9 man band has evolved -- with their third album, Theme for a Major Hit on Chuck Wren's Jump Up! Records -- from a ska band to something a little more daring. Bassist Rob Willy, drummer Anthony Spila, guitarist Keith Danek and Singer Matt Irie began playing in the south suburbs together in 1995. Between 1995's Take Your Time and 1996's Salute, the group added alto saxophonist Jeff Vidmont (The Monsignors, Tango Wedding Band) and guitarist Brett Meingasner. Mark Beening (trumpet) is another new member.

The group was apparently sued by Neil Diamond for recording Sweet Caroline without permission. They're now giving him a swell 6.6 cents a copy...

They've made two previous full-lengths -- Take Your Time (Strike Out Reckhords), and 1996's Salute (Jump Up! Records), as well as contributions to several compilations: Skarmageddon 3 --Moon Ska Records, Everything Off-Beat -- Jump Up! Records, Return of American Skathic -- Jump Up! Records, and Ska American Style -- Jump Up! Records.

The band includes Matt Irie (vocals), Sam Ambrosini (keyboard), Keith Danek (guitar), Anthony Spila (drums), Jeff Vidmont and Matt Thullen (sax), Brett Meingasner (guitar), Mark Beening (trumpet), Rob Willy (bass).
