Music, Family, Work. It’s Simple.
These are the elements of Harvest and the most important values in their lives. They live to play music, always have and always will.
Family is the most obvious element, with 3/5ths of the band made up by the Barnes Brothers. Bring in "the fourth brother" Chad Fredrickson, long time friend, and you’ve got the core of Harvest. These four were practically born with guitars in their hands and singing in their souls. Growing up playing music together in suburban Chicago, they’ve learned that success is created by work, not luck.
In reality, this band is not about one person, everybody has a hand in what’s important…..music. All the members are different in their own way but together they form a tight musical bond. Scott Barnes sings with a raw, yet focused style, conveying the emotion of the music. Steve Barnes is responsible for catchy, unique rhythms & intense leads, painting a landscape for the songs. Bassist Chad Fredrickson rolls out his Phil Lesh inspired bass lines, at times driving the song with melodic hooks and funky grooves. Russ Barnes is one of the anchors of this band. His vision and mature, heart-felt guitar playing is what started it all. He completes the sonic picture, giving the songs a rock n' roll “kick you in face” sound. Drummer Ben Storm thunders through Bonham-esque beats with a touch of Swing & Jazz influence. He brings along sought after intensity and element of improv to the band's unique sound.
All in all, when you see this band live you know there's something not always found at your neighborhood bars, food for your soul and some candy for your ears.
This band will inevitably work their way into your record collection and your life.
