| Ubiquitous avant-garde jazz cellist leads an ensemble called the Light Box Orchestra, a rotating 25-or-so-member group, some (8-10, usually) of whose members show up on any given night to play improvizational jazz/classical music based on cue cards including cryptic phrases or stage directions. He also frequently plays with a number of Ken Vandermark's ensembles. He recently released Site-Specific, a collection of duos with some of Chicago's finest guitarists: Jim O'Rourke, Kevin Drumm, Charles Kim, John Corbett, Michael Zerang, Jim Baker, Ben Vida, Todd Rittman, Michael Krassner, Jeb Bishop, Helen Mirra, and Adam Sonderberg. Before coming to Chicago, he led a klezmer group in New York City. He has played in the Styrenes, God is My Co-Pilot, and more while living in New York.
