 Loud, driving post-punk, bad-weather Minnesota-type Bob Mould/Paul Westerberg Chicago rockers, one of two bands named Dovetail Joint at NY's CMJ Music Festival (see our review), recently signed an agreement with Aware/Sony. While the local quartet was in LA finishing up the agreement, Aware apparently leaked a demo version of the single "Level on the Inside," which ended up on Q101's Local 101 showcase CD, and received moderate airplay on that station, and topped out their "Top 5 at 5" show several times. The debut Aware E.P came out in '98 (including the tune) and the full album 001 (which also includes it) on Columbia came out in early '99. The band is: Robert Byrne (guitar), Joe Dapier (drums), Charles Gladfelter, (vocals, guitar), and Jon Kooker (bass). Dapier and Gladfelter have played together for 15+ years, since the 6th grade!
