| Founded in 1946, the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras is a diverse family of musical programs designed to provide outstanding music opportunities and resources to all Chicagoland youth. CYSO directly serves more than 350 musicians ages 7 to 18, over 5,000 Chicagoland public school students, and over 40,000 audience members each season. 100% of CYSO graduating seniors attend college, 75% of which pursue musical studies. Named the “2004 Youth Orchestra of the Year” by the Illinois Council of Orchestras and awarded the First Place 2005 ASCAP award for Adventurous Programming, CYSO has achieved international recognition for its excellence and innovation, while gaining a reputation for producing the next generation of professional musicians.
