Born of the diverse musical culture in the city which provides her name, the music of Chicago Rose evokes her hometown’s many influences. Driving her sweet yet solid voice, and woven into her sound is a true musicianship missing in many vocalists. She can sight read music and charts with ease as well as improvise on all of her instruments, which include voice, piano, flute, melodic whistling, and ukulele!
Chicago Rose’s music is best described as jazz/adult-contemporary crossover. An internationally known singer/songwriter who is best know for her loving ballads and upbeat jazzy style, Chicago Rose is a true performer who’s desire to create beautiful music is only outweighed by her desire please her audiences.
Rose’s solo career is backed by a diverse resume of touring professionally in several a cappella vocal groups for colleges, state fairs and corporations throughout the country, and on regional television broadcasts. While on tour with The Sound, Rose opened for the Beach Boys. Her lead vocals, original compositions and arrangements for five part harmony lured lead singer Mike Love on stage during the set, who said of her performance, “That’s my new favorite song.” Later in the show, the Beach Boys returned the favor by bringing Rose on stage for backup vocals. Chicago audiences adore their native daughter, constantly encouraging Rose to bring her music to a wider market. Rose’s international appeal is enhanced by her ability to sing flawlessly in Spanish, Italian, Japanese and of course her native tongue of English. Her music has been receiving airplay on stations all over Europe and Australia.
Chicago Rose has been featured on a variety of TV and radio shows in the Chicagoland area, including WGN-TV, CLTV, WBBM-TV’s Wild Chicago, and twice as a guest on WGN-Radio’s The Rick Kogan Show. In print, she has been featured in the Chicago Sun-Times, the Chicago Tribune, the Lerner Newspapers and the Daily Southtown.
A regular at the piano bar, Rose sings and accompanies herself, and is often featured at special events, including New Year’s Eve. Her voice, piano, and flute are also featured while she plays with her ensemble, which can include acoustic bass, drums and guitar. Whether she is singing and playing in a quiet setting, a large auditorium, or a loud, upbeat room, Chicago Rose always involves her audience by taking requests, and encouraging people to sing and smile along with her.
