| A talented performance group formed in 1986 to explore and study the chamber music repertoire. Includes Chicago Symphony Orchestra principal clarinetist Larry Combs, Michael Henoch (oboe), Gail Williams (horn), Michael Mulcahy (trombone), and Bradley Opland (double bass), William Buchman (basson), Joseph Genualdi (violin), Gene Pokorny (tuba), Rami Solomonow (viola), Barbara Butler (trumpet), Christopher Costanza (cello), Charles Geyer (trumpet), Stefan Hersh (violin), and Deborah Sobol (piano). "For the last decade," Chicago Sun Times critic Wynne Delacoma says, "CCM's concerts... have been among Chicago's best." They recently launched an ambitious three-year 20th century chamber music festival, Music at the Millennium -- a three year sampler of 70ish pieces which they regard as milestones of this century -- at the Museum of Contemporary Art in May, 1998. The first season was regarded as an excellent success. "None of the 14 members of the Chicago Chamber Musicians, says Chicago Reader critic Ted Shen, "about half of them CSO or former CSO players, is second-rate." The CCM presents a series of free monthly lunchtime concerts at the Chicago Cultural Center, regular live radio concerts (on WFMT), as well as a number of musical outreach programs in both nontraditional venues (Lamb's Farm, Lawson YMCA), lectures at Chicago public schools, and residencies/master classes in colleges and conservatories, nationwide. Regular show tickets range from $8 (students) - $27. For tickets, call (312) CALL-CCM. For more information, visit their website: http://www.chicagochambermusic.org
