| With a two minute recording "KIND OF A DRAG," five teenagers from Chicago's west side, found themselves propelled into the national spotlight. Neighborhood kids drawn together by music, they had landed a showcase on WGN TV's All Time Hits, and succeeded in recording their first original song on USA Records. In February of 1967, the single swiftly climbed to the #1 spot on the national music charts. Signing with Columbia Records, THE BUCKINGHAMS had numerous hit singles: "KIND OF A DRAG" "DON'T YOU CARE" "MERCY, MERCY, MERCY" "HEY BABY, THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG" "SUSAN" All hit the top ten nationally and THE BUCKINGHAMS were proclaimed a Pop Phenomenon. Television appearances on Ed Sullivan, Jerry Lewis, Dick Clark's American Bandstand, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, Nashville Network's Classic Rock with Wolfman Jack, and PM Magazine, as well as extensive coverage in various popular magazines, confirmed THE BUCKINGHAMS' stardom. Their succession of hits led them to being named "The Most Listened to Band in America" in 1967. THE BUCKINGHAMS have evolved to remain one of today's most popular acts. The appeal of THE BUCKINGHAMS' MUSIC and the consistently high level of performance have earned the band rave reviews and a loyal following throughout the country. THE BUCKINGHAMS have a fresh approach to their music that fuses their classic sound with a punch and rhythm for today. Not only have they rediscovered fans from the heyday sixties, but now appeal to a new age-group of BUCKINGHAMS' enthusiasts. THE BUCKINGHAMS have forged new links with yet another generation. The wide appeal of THE BUCKINGHAMS can be attributed to their high-energy concerts packed with vocal versatility, spirit, humor, and musical strength! Despite their wholesome image, they play no nonsense Rock-n-Roll, performing each song as if it was the first time, with that infectious zeal and pop that grabs listeners' attention. They have been turning on audiences since their unparallel beginning. THE BUCKINGHAMS maintain a rigorous concert schedule, performing across the country to capacity crowds. They were featured on the most successful concert tour of 1985, "The Happy Together Tour" which joined them with The Turtles, The Grass Roots, and Gary Lewis and the Playboys, playing to "Standing Room Only" audiences in 125 cities. That tour was proclaimed "One of the Most Successful" by Billboard and Performance magazines. THE BUCKINGHAMS also toured the country with the "Solid Gold Sixties Tour" along with Tommy James and the Shondells, The Turtles, The Grass Roots, Paul Revere and the Raiders and Gary Puckett! THE BUCKINGHAMS continue to reach television audiences with appearances on Entertainment Tonight and, NBC's Concert Series. More recently, THE BUCKINGHAMS have appeared on Good Morning America and numerous national, local, and cable television programs. Their recent appearance on PBS television was part of the "Sixties Pop Rock Reunion" which became one of the most successful tours of the year playing to sellout audiences throughout the country. In addition to television, newspapers constantly run both feature articles and concert reviews. Radio stations from east to west play their recordings, which only confirms the lasting appeal of their music. THE BUCKINGHAMS are also known for their powerful rendition of the National Anthem. Their recognized vocals are always in demand at sporting events. Original members CARL GIAMMARESE and NICK FORTUNA have put heavy emphasis on reestablishing themselves as a major recording group.
