Brett Simons

Chicago area bassist has played with numerous local luminaries including Robbie Fulks, Mighty Blue Kings and the Chicago Jump Company. He is also a member of the new band, The John Fournier Quintet. He also has numerous producing and recording credits.

Originally from Indiana, he discovered the bass as an accident, when -- as a teenager -- a friend lent him a guitar with two broken strings on it). After falling in love with jazz during high school, Simons attended the University of Miami to study music. In 1993, Simons moved to Chicago, where he soaked up the city's vibrant music scene, playing with folks like the Slavek Hanzilk Trio, Som Brasil, Patricia Barber, Jim Dewan, Liz Carroll, Larry Nugent, and Brendan Bulger.

In 1999, he toured with platinum-selling country artist Lila McCann, and moved to Los Angeles. Recently, he has been performing with singer/songwriter Gary Jules, Greg Kurstin's Action Figure Party, Janet Robin, and a new trio with keyboardist Deron Johnson (who has plaed with Miles Davis and Alanis Morrisette) and drummer Oscar Seaton.
