Nine times out of ten, a band's name is little more than an invitation for dull journalists to try to get to the bottom of the matter by asking about it.. Names can be obscure, meaningless, intriguing. Adrift could just be another randomly picked name. It could represent the answer to the grand questions of life. Regardless, it's perfect. Adrift is adrift. The sound is forlorn, a sweet sadness that draws you in Radiohead-style without apology. The sound is a mix of electronics and guitars, combined with Cure-cum-Trent Reznor vocals. It's a gloom pop sound, and it works.
Adrift began in January of 1998 with the release of The Glitter Conscience, a three track demo the band self produced. The demo garnered airplay on various radio stations, including Chicago's Q101. Adrift's follow-up release, The Breath To Whisper Goodbye, got even more attention, as evident from its airplay on Q101, Loyola's WLUW, Local Music Chaos, WOUI and New Trier's WNTH. The band is currently solidifying a recording deal with Baby Factory Records.
Adrift is: Kevin McLemore (guitar, keys, vocals), Gabriel Savitz (guitars, drums), Adam Wolcott (bass), Chava Garcia (drums, keys)
