Don't be fooled by its downtown location, Andy's Jazz Club is a swingin' affordable spot that everyone can enjoy. And everyone certainly does—from tourists and locals to trendy twentysomethings and distinguished professionals. The variety here doesn't stop with the audience either. Andy's hosts an eclectic mix of local and world-renowned jazz musicians, showcasing everything from traditional swing to bop, fusion and Afro-pop.
It doesn't matter which day of the week you stop in, there will always be live music. Shows usually start around 5 p.m. and cost $5 (Monday through Thursday) until 8:30 p.m., the cover charge doubles after that. Sunday jam sessions are always $5 and big-name performers can cost anywhere from $10 to $25. Past acts have included Randy Brecker, David Sanchez and Dr. Lonnie Smith. Check the Andy's website for upcoming shows and other jazz-fueled events.
In addition to its musical menu, Andy's also provides a full lineup of foodstuffs. A dinner list features everything from appetizers and salads to pizzas, pastas and hearty entrees. Try the chicken-stuffed quail with roasted red potatoes or have an unconventional barbecue with the kitchen's char-grilled and glazed salmon dish. You'll find plenty of other land and sea entrees as well as a handful of vegetarian choices including a grilled portabella sandwich with tomato focaccia, the California veggie burger and baked brie with grapes, toasted almonds and fresh apple.
