Flosstradamus Doo-Wop Night
Thursday, December 4 at The Burlington, 9 p.m.; Free
It's free. It's fun. It's Flosstradamus doing Motown and doo-wop. 'Nuff said.

Calamity Jane Record Release
Friday, December 5 at Debonair Social Club, 10 p.m.; $5 with RSVP to Urb.com, $10 without
Formerly known as DJ Solange, Dani Deahl has worked her way up from local unknown to regular magazine contributor to running Calamity Jane Recordings. Tonight, the label's first act, Milwaukee's the Glamour, named to the 2008 URB Next 100 list, celebrates the release of its first EP. Practically a resident at popular parties like Fly By Night and Dance Party Magic, the Glamour hopes to attract the crowd by promising a live set. Deahl and Willy Joy also spin.

Misstress Barbara
Friday, December 5 at Smartbar, 10 p.m; $10, $15 after midnight
From rocking raves of the mid-'90s to headlining the biggest clubs worldwide, Misstress Barbara is back to headline at Smartbar. She's joined by Frankie Vega and Philip Stone for a night of speaker-thumping techno and electro.

East of Edens Soul Express
Saturday, December 6 at Hideout, 11 p.m.; $5
John Ciba, one of the men responsible for bringing the sounds of deep south soul to the attention of music aficionados all over with his Rabbit Factory Records and Soul of Birmingham compilations and longtime music connoisseur and writer James Porter bring us another edition of the East of Edens Soul Express party. Come party like it's 1969 (without the racial and sexual inequalities).

Uprising
Sunday, December 7 at Sonotheque, 9 p.m.; Free
Sunday is reggae night at Sonotheque, regardless of who's running the decks. First it was Rickshaw, then Slacky J and now Papa G is bringing in a night of dubby dancehall sounds. He's joined by rotating guest DJs (and known dance-floor burners) Zebo, Blackish and Major Taylor. With their combined musical knowledge, party-rocking experience and record collections, this could be one of the most interesting reggae parties to hit Chicago in a long time.
