Date: January 16-20, 2008
Cost: $10-$15 per show, $55 for a five-day pass
Organizer: Schubas Tavern
What to expect: Local and national artists, including the Walkmen, Ohmega Watts and Bobby Conn. There will also be DJs upstairs every night.
Why to go: The opening performance could be the best of them all, with notoriously inventive singer/songwriter/producer John Vanderslice making an appearance along with Chicago's own Brit-rock faves The M's.
Additional info: Shows begin nightly at 9 p.m., and there will be daytime shows at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday from students at Paul Green's School of Rock, who will perform a Southern Roots Rock Tribute (these are All-Ages shows, while the others are 18+). Get tickets at http://www.schubas.com.
