Editorial Review of Chicago Arabesque

Date: June 25-28, 2008

Cost: Free

Organizer: City of Chicago's Advisory Council on Arab Affairs, the Arab American Action Network and Turath, the Arab Cultural Foundation of Chicago

What to expect: Chicago's non-religious, non-political Arabesque fest offers cuisine, performances, artist demonstrations and much more.

Why to go: To learn about the rich traditions of the Arab World! A host of Arab countries will be represented through traditional dance, cuisine, musical performances and workshops.

Additional info: The celebration will take place in Daley Plaza. In addition to the craft-filled souk (bazaar), there will be several activity booths with programs for children and adults including henna applications, belly dancing workshops, calligraphy demonstrations and a magic show. Mainstage music and dance performances are from noon-1 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, and noon-7 p.m. Saturday.
