Hidden slightly below street-level, down a short set of stairs, this self-proclaimed location for the "Best Chinese Food in Town" is sandwiched between the glass fronts of a small gym and another restaurant. The tiny bar inside is the most immediate feature, though it mostly serves as a comfy waiting spot for the many carry-out customers rather than a hangout for actual bar patrons. The restaurant's actual dining area is smaller than its mirrored walls may lead you to believe, though still plenty large enough to manage the meager dine-in crowd.
The menu features pretty standard Chinese fare: plenty of beef, chicken, seafood and a few pork dishes. The house specials focus on seafood, with a high volume of shrimp plates. There's also no shortage of spicy dishes here, as all but three of the 17 house specials are listed as hot. Vegetarians, have no fear, there is a brief vegetarian menu, featuring plenty of vegetable/tofu combinations.
The appetizers menu is something to spend some time on, and considering that the entrees are so large anyway, it makes for a more exciting meal to order a few appetizers and then split an entree. The house special tofu is a real treat, offering fried squares of tofu with a sweet, sour and spicy sauce along with peanuts. For dessert, try one of the many fresh fruit smoothies.
