Drummer Chad Taylor and Cornetist Rob Mazurek's "solo" group is releasing the results of a 1997 recording session in December 1998, 12 Degrees of Freedom. With guitarist Jeff Parker, bassist Chris Lopes and trombonist Sara P. Smith, they are the Chicago Underground Orchestra (whose Playground was released in 1997). The two, with bassist Noel Kupersmith, form the Chicago Underground Trio, which will release Possible Cube on Delmark Records in January.
