Forget the days of stale pretzels, greasy wings, dirty plywood paneling and tube televisions. The metrosexual sports fan now has a home. With plush booths, subtle neon accents and rich woods, uber-chic lounge now meets football-man den at Junior's. It's not hard to imagine dainty blowhard ESPN personalities like Dan Patrick popping in for pomegranate martinis before his pre-game broadcasts.
It's tough to tell if the $200 jeans and untucked shirt crowd is paying attention to the action on the field or in the next booth over. With a Gold Coast-like cocktail list that includes cosmos, mojitos and classic martinis served five ways, Junior's is the kind of place where you can take your girlfriend or hook up with a new one. If you're genuinely interested in what's going on during the game, you don't have to look far. There are more flat-screen TVs at Junior's than in the Best Buy home electronics section. Screens mounted above most of the dining tables ensure you get a personal view of your choice game. Should you choose to tune out the sports action, you can turn your focus to the DJs spinning sounds Wednesday-Saturday evenings.
Though you'll find what can only be classified as "bar food" on the menu here, you'll notice posh additions like a burger infused with tequila and topped with chihuahua cheese and a Philly steak sandwich with shaved sirloin. Prices run remarkably low considering the surroundings ($8-$9 for most sandwiches), and meals are best enjoyed on the 20-seat sidewalk cafe in warm weather.
