If your vintage artwork obsession dates back further than your college dorm room days of plastering old wine ads on your walls, Colletti Gallery is worth a visit.
Situated in the heart of the Gold Coast shopping district, the narrow space resembles an extravagant living room, boasting droves of framed, original vintage poster art, antique furniture and ceramics. Prints showcasing lavish depications and bright colors range from late nineteenth century French chocolate ads to images of Italian cigarettes from the 1920s. Take care not to trip over the wooden chairs, antique chests and porcelain mirrors, up for grabs to any collector of furnishings who can foot the bill.
Though prices range from expensive to borderline absurd and clients mostly include vintage art collectors, gallery-goers who'd prefer to spend less may purchase books and other trinkets. At the very least, it's nice to place to put down your shopping bags and fixate on something other than store window displays for a few moments during a day on the Magnificent Mile. Not to mention, you'll enjoy a history lesson told through the eyes of a turn-of-the-century consumer.
